Oh the Places You'll Go! Rochester, NY home birth photography

by Debra Wallace

If you've ever followed a dream, you know that it can take you to some unlikely places.  When I arrived at Bridget and Jonathan's house at 4:30 in the morning last Thursday, he said, "How many births have you photographed?"  The answer? Absolutely zero.  But if you have an adventurous spirit, these things are impossible to turn down.

Jon sat on this stool the entire night.  I thought he was resting, but Bridget told me later that he actually fell asleep.

E sat quietly in the room eating animal crackers and keeping vigil over mom.

When R saw mom in the birthing tub, he went and got his rubber ducky.
The kids went from playing with grandpa to watching mom labor.  The contrast between mom's focus and the kids' playfulness was fun to watch.

The moment where the whole thing felt worth it.

Brand new feet.

As baby T cried Bridget said, "It's okay, you have a whole family to love you."

R was a big fan of the birth tub hose.

I came home and told my husband I needed another baby.  He said, "We still have Eli!"

Thank you Bridget and Jonathan for allowing me to be a part of your miracle.  It was an honor and privilege that will fill my heart with nostalgia for a very long time!
